Chesapeake police are seeking a suspect in a bank robbery reported Wednesday morning.

The robbery at the Southern Bank, located in the 3300 block of Western Branch Boulevard, was reported about 9:45 a.m., according to a city press release.

Witnesses reported the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot toward the rear of the building.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
