Mr. James T. Newby Sr., of 172 Greenfield Crescent, Suffolk, departed this earthly life on Friday, April 22, 2016.

He is predeceased by his wife, Thelma Newby. He is survived by his five children, Janice Waters, William Crocker, James Jr., Patrina and Corey Newby. He will be lovingly missed by his sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Brown, of Chesapeake, and Sandra Beamon, of Suffolk, along with nine grandchildren and a host of relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3288 Pruden Blvd., Suffolk. Interment will be immediately following the service at the church cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of Sandra Beamon, 106 Park Road, Suffolk. Funeral services have been entrusted to Harris Funeral Home Inc., 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk.
