An overturned vehicle closed a portion of Wilroy Road Tuesday and sent two people to the hospital.

It happened at 2:17 p.m. near the intersection with Suburban Drive.

Police found that the Ford SUV left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel extricated two adults, a male and a female, and they were taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Traffic was temporarily re-routed, and the roadway reopened about 3:30 p.m.

The accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
