Car strikes house

Suffolk police are investigating a vehicle that struck a house in the 100 block of Mahan Street Saturday afternoon.
The crash was reported at 1:33 p.m., according to a city press release. Investigators found that the Lexus sedan was traveling down Church Street, ran a stop sign and continued to travel straight, leaving the roadway and striking the front porch area of a two-story frame residence.
The vehicle was occupied by two adult males. The 31-year-old driver was taken by ground ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
The passenger was not injured. Nobody inside the residence was injured.
Staff from Planning & Community Development/Neighborhood Development Services also responded and determined that there was no structural damage to the residence requiring displacement of the occupants, according to the release.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to the release.
