Nansemond-Suffolk Academy lost to Greenbrier Christian Academy 9-2 Friday night in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools championship.

After coming off of a momentous victory the night before, the Lady Saints couldn’t find their rhythm against a team that seemed to have their number the whole night.

“We need to start playing as a team,” coach Brittany Wilkins said. “It’s going to take the entire team to get together to win games.”

The Saints struggled from behind for most of the evening. The Greenbrier sideline was cheering, while NSA’s bench was quiet. There were a few good moments in the mix, as the Lady Saints saw scores in the third inning, but nothing else to cheer about.

“Greenbrier Christian blew us away,” said Wilkins.

Wilkins continued to stress that teamwork was the only way the Lady Saints would be able to pull out victories. She believes her team was focused, but they just weren’t playing together and got caught off guard by how prepared Greenbrier Christian was.
