The State Police SWAT team on Saturday executed a search warrant on an apartment in the Suffolk Towers in the 100 block of North Main Street.
The search warrant was obtained by the Suffolk Police Department Special Investigative Unit, according to a city press release. It was executed about 6:15 a.m.
A person of interest in the investigation has been identified as Frank Edward Wilson-Arthur, 34, according to the press release. He has active warrants on charges of domestic assault and strangulation.
There are 60 apartments in the building, according to the release. The State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team swept the premises and determined no evacuations were needed, but Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews were standing by, and the Sheriff’s Office was prepared to provide temporary shelter in the Godwin Courts Building if needed.
Several streets in the downtown area were closed during the investigation, including North Main Street, Saratoga Street, Market Street and Bank Street.
Anyone who has information on Wilson-Arthur’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text the keyword SPDVATIP and the tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
