William King, 95, formerly of Suffolk, died Friday, May 13, 2016, in Charlotte, N.C., at the Peak Resources Center. He was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and the son of the late Madison King and Amanda Veale. He was preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers.

He retired from Lipton Tea Company. He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and former president of the Male and Senior Ushers. Mr. King was a World War II veteran.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Angela K. Eure, of Concord, N.C., Ethel K. Johnson (Bishop Wallace), Vivian K. Thomas, both of Suffolk; son, Floyd King Jr., of Suffolk; grandchildren, Dennis Walker (Chentel), of Charlotte, N.C., Anthony Walker (Cha’tearia), of Hampton, Terrence King, of Tappahannock, Tracey K. Cross (Glen), Sonya Jordan (John), Tonya Harris (John), Trenton Thomas, Felicia Thomas, Talisha Champagne (Tyrell), Shawn Johnson, all of Suffolk; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016, at St. Timothy Baptist Church officiated by Bishop Carlton Upton. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 174 York Court. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
