Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, George Lee Goodman, left this world in the arms of loving angels on Monday, May 16, 2016. He was born July 31, 1932, in Suffolk (Whaleyville) to the late Stephen and Cora Goodman.

George retired from Olin/Winchester Gun Factory, and he was a member of New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries Church.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marion Giles, and son, Michael Riddick.

George leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Ivery Goodman; three daughters, Tonga Horne (Lester), Valerie Felton (Eric) and Doris Johnson (Jeffrey); three sons, Marvin Riddick (Cynthia), Amos Riddick (Rosemary) and Calvin Riddick (Joyce); sister, Elsie Rascoe (Thurman); aunt, Rosa Sweat; two sisters-in-law, Deloris Freeman (Walter) and Gladys Walton; 20 grandchildren; more than 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives.

Mr. Goodman’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministry Church, 307 County St., Suffolk, VA 23434, Bishop Viola H. Parker, officiating. He will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
