Herbert John Hahn Jr., 88, of Suffolk, died peacefully with family by his side on May 31, 2016.

Born March 2, 1928, in Irvington, N.J., he was the son of Herbert John Hahn and Linda Stiles. He is predeceased by his wife, Bette, and is survived by their children, Christopher of Winchester, Herbert John III, of Chesapeake, and Susan, of Hamilton, Mass.; his sister, Ruth; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Herb served in the U.S. Army and was a paratrooper and radio repairman. He studied chemical engineering at the Newark College of Engineering, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. He had a long and successful career with the Lipton Tea Company, serving in a number of positions including manager of the Suffolk plant. Herb had a lifelong interest in nature, science, finance and history. He was an avid deep sea fisherman.
