If you’d seen Bobby Godfrey at the moment he discovered he’d won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game, you might not have thought anything unusual had happened.
“I couldn’t believe it at first,” the Suffolk man later said. “I didn’t want to get too excited before I was sure.”
Godfrey matched all five numbers in the June 1 day drawing to win the game’s top prize. Those winning numbers were 1-2-10-12-22.
He used Easy Pick and allowed the terminal to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.
Godfrey bought the winning ticket at New Dixie Mart, 1500 Armory Drive, Franklin.
The heavy equipment operator said he intends to use his winning to pay bills and save for retirement.
Cash 5 drawings are held twice daily. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
