Maynard Allen French III

Maynard Allen French III, 66, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, after an extended illness. Born in Chesterfield County, Maynard was the son of Maynard A. and Ellen Gutherie French. He was a 15-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his military service, Maynard worked as a pipefitter, shop 56, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and retired with a total of 41 years federal service.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Maynard leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 22 years, Melanie Tillett French; three daughters, Stacey LeAnn French Schaub (Rob), Lori Lynn French Willard (John), Carol Elizabeth French Bennett (David); four sons, Michael Douglas Clinton, Robert James Clinton (Tamara) Daniel Blake Clinton (Stephanie) and Brandon Lee Tillett French (Bridgette); 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia French McClain and Kay French Sollars (Richard); and a host of extended family and friends.
Maynard will be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife and family. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing.
Family and friends will gather from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016, for visitation at Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton. A service celebrating Maynard’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, in the funeral home, immediately followed by burial in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
