Mears joins Salvation Army board

Jim Mears of Suffolk has joined the advisory board of the Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula, according to Capt. Ryan Brown.
Mears, a certified public accountant, serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for BayPort Credit Union, where he has worked since 1994. Prior to that, he worked in the field of pubic accounting for about 10 years.
A 23-year member of the Newport News Rotary Club, Mears is a graduate of Bridgewater College. He has been married to his wife, Cindy for 31-years and they are the parents of two grown children, Brooks and Macy.
The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula serves the Hampton, Newport News, York, Poquoson and Gloucester-Mathews areas, assisting those in need with housing, utilities, food, after-school child care and camp opportunities for youth.
