Vergie H. Hollimon, 101, of 5616 Indian Trail Road, Suffolk, died on July 4, 2016, at her daughter’s residence. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Pattie Smith and Plumer Harvey. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Hollimon, and a son, Henry Hollimon.

Mrs. Hollimon retired as a school bus driver after 25 years. She had numerous church affiliations at Piney Grove Baptist Church, such as the mother of the church, former Senior Choir member, former church secretary, former president of the Pastor’s Aid, former president of Deaconess Ministry and a member of the Sunday school.

Left to cherish the legacy of Mrs. Hollimon are two daughters, Joyce Hollimon, of Forestville, Md., and Jane Hollimon-Curley, of Washington, D.C.; one son, Lilton Hollimon, of Suffolk; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11, at noon at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, officiated by Pastor Larry Parker. Interment will take place at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Expressions and condolences can be left at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
