Church hosts gospel concert
Some of gospel’s biggest names will convene at Grove Church for its gospel concert later this month.
William McDowell will headline the church’s “Life or Death Concert,” set for July 21. Alex Holt and Free Worship, Titus Jackson and Latoya Murphy-Griffin will also perform. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the concert will start at 7 p.m.
Concert tickets will be available until the day of the show, but they are going quickly. To date, about 95 percent of the VIP tickets and more than 700 general admission tickets have been sold, said Quwania Jefferson, the church’s marketing director.
General admission and VIP tickets are currently selling for $20 and $30, respectively. On the day of the show, they will go for $30 and $45 respectively.
VIP tickets guarantee reserved seating in the sanctuary and admission to the VIP reception the day of the concert from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be food and refreshments available and a meet-and-greet with the performing artists.
Tickets can be purchased in-person at the church, on the church’s website or over the phone.
Leading up to the concert, the church will host conferences catered to both families and teens. The conferences are free of charge; however, registration is required.
July 19-21, the family conference will feature sermons from several local pastors and Grove Church’s Dr. Melvin Marriner.
The teen conference will take place on July 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This conference will feature several youth pastors from the Hampton Roads area. Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and pastor Tye Tribbett will speak as well.
“We will empower those attendees with the tools they need to forge ahead,” Marriner stated in an email. “No matter how dark today may seem, we know that this race called life is not about finishing first — but rather it is about enduring until the end.”
Registration for the conferences and concert tickets are available on the church’s website at www.grovechurchva.com. For more information, call 484-4149 or email email@example.com.
