Anne Elizabeth Piland Wright, 80, passed away July 19, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Nansemond County to the late Isaac and Gladys Piland. Anne is predeceased by her brothers Joe and Tom Piland, sisters Martha Bell and Sue Hancock and grandson Christopher Fitzwater.

Gardening was Anne’s passion, and she loved baseball and fishing. Anne loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, H.J. “Jackie” Wright; daughter, Debbie Spratley; stepdaughter, Louann Wright; son, Isaac “Randy” Duke (Marie); brother, Frank Piland (Barbara); sister-in-law, Trudy Piland; granddaughters, Elizabeth Land (Tommy) and Miranda Duke (Stephen); grandsons, Gilbert Fitzwater III (Christy), Jason Duke (Carlin) and Cory Duke; granddaughter-in-law, Crystal Edwards (Seth); seven great-grandchildren, many devoted nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Pete.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, with the Rev. T. Floyd Irby Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Neck Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
