Daisy Irene Cross Colbert, 80, formerly of Cullodan Street, Suffolk, transitioned on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 2227 E. Washington St., Suffolk. She was a native of Hobbsgood, N.C., and the daughter of the late Zell Cross and Viola White. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Colbert; and brother, Arthur Cross; sister, Jessie Mae Cross; grandson, Larry Donnell Colbert.

She retired from Goldkist Peanut Company. Ms. Colbert was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she was a member of Polly Armstrong Missionary Ministry, chapel choir and No. 2 choir.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Jacqueline I. Colbert and Sharon R. Tyler (James), both of Suffolk; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert L. Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2227 E. Washington St. but will leave for the service at 427 Cullodan St. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
