MDA campaign begins today

Suffolk shoppers should be ready with their change when they visit local stores, convenience stores and restaurants the next few weekends, because firefighters will be waiting with their hands — err, boots — out to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue is asking residents to help them help others as part of MDA’s Fill the Boot campaign. Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel will be out at a number of locations across the city with boots in hand seeking donations for MDA. The goal for this year’s campaign is to raise $80,000 on the local level.

Collections will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday the next three weekends.
