Edward Lee-John Roper

Edward Lee-John Roper, 46, of Norfolk, transitioned Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Ravannah, Ohio, and the son of Edward Bernard and Anna M. Roper. He was preceded in death by his brother, Derrick Dorsey.
Edward attended Duke University and ITT University, studying electronics. He was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of the Safety Task Team, received certification as a paint inspector from NEVSEA Systems Command in May 2015, and was a make-up foreman in the blast/coat department. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Ministry, Saints of Joy Male Chorus, Greeter’s Ministry and Praise Dance Ministry.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Michelle M. Roper; three daughters, Sharnez Coralm (Keith), Aryanah Vaughan-Roper and Elayzah Roper; four sons, Marteze Roper, Jareze Roper, Elyjah Roper and Tristan Roper; four sisters; four brothers; a beloved mother-in-law, Beverly Jones; and a host of aunts, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon, Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Canaan Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Vernon W. Hairston Sr. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
