A crash on U.S. Route 58 eastbound tied up traffic during Friday’s morning rush hour and sent two people to the hospital.

The wreck was reported at 7:57 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer, a Ford Five Hundred and a Mercedes SUV, according to a city press release.

One adult and one juvenile were taken to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

Two eastbound lanes were shut down immediately following the crash, with one open for traffic. All lanes reopened about 9:18 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
