Theodore W. Barrett, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior Aug. 12, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in Winchester to the late Dr. John F. and Florence C. Barrett.

Ted was a 1960 graduate of Virginia Tech, receiving a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry. He was a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving 23 years. Ted was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former Knights of Columbus member. Along with his parents, Ted is predeceased by brothers, John F. Barrett Jr. and Louis M. Barrett; and sisters, Florence Hall and Mary Spitler.

Left to cherish his memory are wife, Ingeborg P. Barrett; daughter, Marla C. Barrett; stepsons, Jim (Wanda) and Danny Clark; grandsons, Jonathan (Becky), Justin; great-granddaughter, Ava; sisters, Bobby (Dr. Harry) Crisp, Margaret (Bob) Hein, Grace (Bill) Dahmke, Judy (Jim) Poulin; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church, 202 S. Broad St., Suffolk, with Father Emmanuel Mensah officiating. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. R.W. Baker & Co.
