Richard Edgar Forrester Sr.

Richard Edgar Forrester Sr., 88, passed away Aug. 21, 2016, due to a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob C. Forrester Sr. and Iva B. Forrester, and brother, Jacob C. Forrester Jr. Richard worked for Community Electric Co-Op for 32 years and then worked for The Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives for 10 years, and after his retirement worked part time for the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative. Richard was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, teaching first aid and CPR for numerous years. He was a charter member of the Bethlehem Ruritan Club. Richard was a member of the Suffolk Church of God of Prophecy for more than 40 years and before that a member of Bethlehem Christian Church for years. He has served in all capacities of the church.
Richard is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice W. Forrester; children and their spouses, Richard “Ricky” E. Forrester Jr. (Nancy), Arthur “Art” C. Forrester Sr. (Patricia), Alice Beaton (Jerry), Neal A. Forrester (Trudy), Holly F. Allison (Tim); grandchildren, Amy, Kristin, Carson, Leah, Stephanie, Jacob, Noah; and great-grandchildren, Ben, Ethan, Emily, Jenna, Millie, Nix and Bella.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Fulton and the Rev. William Paramore officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
