Music, giveaways and cheap gas marked the grand re-opening at Miller’s on Holland Road eight months after a fire forced the closure and remodel of the store and an attached Arby’s restaurant.

“We just wanted to show everybody we appreciate them waiting for us,” said Wanda Sheffield, vice president of operations. “We pride ourselves on our loyal customers.”

The fire happened on the evening of Dec. 2. Miller’s reopened on April 26 but didn’t have its grand re-opening until Friday.

Sheffield said the response from customers was immediate and enthusiastic once they reopened in April. The store has a number of added and improved features, including fresh pizza available by the slice.

“They can take their money and spend it anywhere,” she said. “We appreciate them coming to us.”

To show their appreciation, Miller’s sold regular gasoline for $1.69 for about six hours Friday. They also held a free raffle for flat-screen televisions, Visa gift cards, race tickets, concert tickets, a basketball hoop and more.

Plenty of giveaways were to be had as well, including ice cream sandwiches, snack cakes and sunglasses. Many of the items were provided by vendors.

“Our vendor community is really helping us out,” said Tim Storey, chief marketing officer.
