Sgt. Curtis ‘gave it straight’

Thanks to Tracy Agnew for her article about the dedication of Sgt. Selwyn George Curtis.
Please allow me to add the following few thoughts.
Sgt. Curtis always brought to meetings about students a “give-it-straight” report. He first gave thoughtful, positive remarks about their performance and, finally, their challenges.
He had personal knowledge of students’ educational achievements, as well as their friends, their lives at home, and their talents.
Sgt. Curtis was an advocate for students, had faith in them and encouraged them to do their best.
May his “touch” remain with us and guide us in our own interactions with others. As the new school year begins in our community, may his “high road” and “blessed” attitude embrace our treatment of others, locally and globally, in all facets of our lives.
Thank you, Sgt. Curtis. Long live our memory of you.
