Justin Allen Chavis, 30, passed away Aug. 26, 2016. He was born in Suffolk, the son of Lisa Harcum Branchaud and the late David Ray Chavis. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School class of 2005. There are no ex-soldiers, the title is earned, never given, and what’s earned is yours forever. Justin proudly served his country in Iraq as a U.S. Army Specialist E-4; part of the Blue Cord Brotherhood (11 Bravo), where for some, experience forges friendships, but for an infantryman, combat forges a brotherhood.

In addition to his father, Justin is predeceased by his twin brother, Jason Chavis; grandparents, Jerry Abram Harcum, Nathaniel Chavis Sr. and Valerian Branchaud. He is survived by his fiancée, Melissa Stewart; mother and her husband, Lisa H. and Glenn Branchaud; grandparents, Nita and Billy Wyatt, Ellen Chavis Gay and Mary Branchaud; sisters, Celina Chavis, Kristin Ralston and Brittany Chavis; brother, Ryan Chavis and fiancée, Kelly; nephews, Elliott, Adam, Rylan and Mason; nieces, Alexia, Kathryn, Sara Beth and Carleigh Rae; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Chaplain Robert Price officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Glenn and Lisa Branchaud. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
