To the editor:

As everyone who drives down Bridge Road at Knotts Neck and Shoulders Hill has seen, there is a sign on the right hand side of the road beside Lancaster Farms that says “Hillary for prison.”

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on their candidate of choice, as am I. But I think this sign shows grave disrespect and should be taken down. I am not a fan of Donald Trump, but I am not going to put a sign up disparaging him for the public to see.

There is supporting a candidate’s opposition, and then there is the low to which this sign stoops. It is below us as Americans.

Since the sign is free speech, will it come down? I doubt it. But everyone should ask themselves what they would do if their candidate were up on that sign? Wouldn’t they want to vigorously defend the candidate?

Is Secretary Clinton perfect? No. Is Donald Trump perfect? Far from it. We just need to make sure we recognize the low to which we’re stooping right now.
