Gladys Odell Holliman-Harris

Gladys Odell Holliman-Harris, 75, of Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, transitioned on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Theresa and Nonnie Holliman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Harris.
She retired in 2001 from Walbaums after 40-plus years. She was a member of East End Baptist Church and she was a member of the Benevolence Ministry, Inspirational Praise Sr. Adult Choir, Church Office Ministry, New Members Ministry, Church Council, Sunday School, greeter, Adult Usher Board, Sisters Who Care 60 plus and former Jubal Arts Center voice student. She had the heart of Christ and was a true servant who loved God’s people.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Jennifer Knowlton, of Suffolk; four sons, Anthony Holliman, of Sarasota, Fla., Andrew Holliman, Brian Holliman (Natalie) and Jeffrey Harris (Debbie), all of Suffolk; four sisters, Della Richardson (Arthur), Mary Harvey, Denise Sherrod (Bernell), all of Suffolk, and Willie Mae Watts, of Virginia Beach; seven brothers, Michael Holliman (Gayle) and Reginald “Bee” Holliman (Patricia) and James A. “Poochie” Holliman (Marlene), all of Suffolk, Herman Holliman (Ellen) and Lorenzo “Buddy” Holliman (Vicky), both of Syracuse, N.Y., Slyvester Holliman and Ronald Holliman (Judy), of Boston, Mass.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Ruby Mingo; a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at East End Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne D. Faison will deliver the eulogy. She will be laid to rest in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
