Lady Cavaliers, Warriors go 2-0 in field hockey

The Nansemond River High School Lady Warriors defeated Indian River 6-0 Wednesday.

The Nansemond River High School Lady Warriors defeated Indian River 6-0 Wednesday.

The Lady Cavaliers pulled off a home rout of Deep Creek High School Wednesday afternoon, scoring six unanswered points on their way to the win.

The Lady Cavaliers were proud of their shutout, and they plan to build on it.

“It’s a great feeling when you go into a game like that and shut a team down,” coach Cortney Parker said.

Allison Thompson had been moved to a new position for offensive purposes, and it paid off. A different player scored each of Lakeland’s six goals.

The Lady Warriors moved to 3-0 as they defeated Indian River 6-0. Ashlyn Rogers led the way for the Lady Warriors with three goals and one assist. Next for Nansemond River is a match at Hickory at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 7.
