We want to thank the hundreds of readers who took the time to submit nominations for our Locals Choice edition. Your submissions were used to create the ballot that can be found online by clicking the Locals Choice banner on the Suffolk News-Herald’s homepage, www.suffolknewsherald.com.

Readers can vote online through midnight Monday, and they will have a chance to win a $200 gift certificate to any Locals Choice winning business they choose.

From the beginning it was our hope to have your favorite local businesses, chosen by local readers, be recognized for the hard work they put into developing the services that keep us coming back.

More than 400 readers participated, submitting nominations for more than 100 categories. This was narrowed down to the top few submissions in each category to create the final ballot presented online. Readers will see many well-known local businesses. A few have built such a following that they appear in several categories.

You may be reminded of some old favorites you have not visited in a while. We hope you find time to visit them again soon. Likewise, in going through the ballot you may discover a few places destined to become new favorites.

Voting is quick and easy. Simply visit www.suffolknewsherald.com and click on the Locals Choice 2016 tab at the top of the page or on any of the Locals Choice promotional spots.

Winners will be announced in a special edition planned for Sept. 30.
