Lakeland boys beat KFHS

King’s Fork High School’s boys’ volleyball team lost 3-2 to crosstown rivals, the Lakeland Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, coach Kevin Howell appreciated his team’s effort.

“We played well in spurts, but it wasn’t enough for the win,” Howell said. “I was proud of their effort.”

Next, the Bulldogs are at Grassfield at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15 The Cavaliers will be at Hickory at 7 p.m. that night.

NRHS drops WBHS match

Nansemond River High School’s boys’ volleyball lost 3-0 to Western Branch on Tuesday

The Warriors play at home against Great Bridge at 7 p.m. Sept. 15.

 

NSA girls get TCIS win

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ volleyball team got its first TCIS conference victory on Tuesday, beating Norfolk Academy 3-0.

“Our team played the best we have all season,” Livi Bono said. “Everyone was on, and it made us work so well together. It makes the game so much fun to play when we do that.”

Livi Bono had 14 kills, nine digs and two aces. Addy Greene added eight kills. Logan Harrell had 29 digs and eight aces. Nicole Wright had 35 assists and three aces.

The Lady Saints are at Norfolk Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 15.
