The Lakeland High School field hockey team took a road loss against Grassfield earlier this week, while the Lady Bulldogs got a 6-0 win in a conference game.

The Lady Cavs lost 2-1. The loss made it No. 2 on the week for the Lady Cavs, as they previously lost to Nansemond River on Monday.

“I don’t think we played well for a full game,” Lady Cavs Maddy Carr said. “We need games like these, because it shows us how we really need to improve and get better.”

“We were slower in the first half but picked it up in the second,” Sydney Beale said. “We have to be more confident in ourselves, but we did have good moments.”

Next for the Lady Cavs is a game against Booker T. Washington at 4 p.m. Oct. 3.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated a Conference 17 match against Churchland High School, winning 6-0. It was a good way to regain ground for the Lady Bulldogs after a loss Monday to Deep Creek.

“We played really well,” the Lady Bulldogs’ Lauren Park said. “Even with that big of a win, I feel we could have played better. We had a new line up on the field. That helped us out as well.”

The Lady Bulldogs will play Deep Creek for the second time at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at Deep Creek.
