The Lady Saints got a big win against Southampton in field hockey this week.
The Lady Saints field hockey team defeated Southampton High School for the second time this year. In their first meeting, the Lady Saints won 12-0. Last game, they won 6-0, bringing their total to 18 in both shutouts.
Lauren Meyers led the way this game as she did in the first, scoring three goals Tuesday evening.
“Both the team and I played really well,” Meyers said. “We really worked together to get that win.”
Lady Saints did admit that it took a little while to adjust to Southampton’s field, but they eventually found a rhythm.
“We found a pretty good flow during the game,” Lady Saints Abby Carlson said. “I was personally happy with how we played and worked together as a unit.”
The Lady Saints used that game as an opportunity to work on their skills and things that they can’t work on in practice. NSA feels that the game helped them to be relaxed and work together as a team.
“I was thrilled with the team’s performance. The girls played great,” Lady Saints field hockey coach Ashley Skinner said. “We focused on teamwork and organized passing combinations. The team did a good job of earning offensive corners as well.”
NSA’s field hockey team is currently 6-8. Next they play at Christchurch at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 14.
