The Virginia State Police on Friday held a bridge dedication at Richard Bland College of William & Mary in Prince George County to dedicate and unveil signs naming the Route 301 bridge of Interstate 95 in memory of Trooper Nathan-Michael W. Smith, a Suffolk native. Smith died in the line of duty on Sept. 21, 2015. He was responding to an emergency call for help at a crash scene when his patrol car ran off the left side of the Interstate 295 exit ramp and crashed into the wood line in Prince George County.
