Police investigate auto-pedestrian crash

Suffolk police are investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.
The accident happened at 8:38 p.m., according to a city press release. Preliminary investigation found the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Portsmouth Boulevard just past the intersection of Suburban Drive when it struck an adult male who was attempting to cross the roadway.
The man was taken by ground ambulance to the Hampton Roads Regional Airport, from where he was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
His injuries are considered serious, according to the press release.
The investigation remains ongoing.
