Betty L. Square Riddick

Betty L. Square Riddick, 77, of 812 Brook Ave., Suffolk, transitioned on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Bon Secours Maryview Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late John A. and Addie W. Square. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Lee Riddick Sr.
She was a member of St. Paul Church, where she was a Minister of Music for several choirs and churches. She was on the Missionary Board and a faithful member to her church community and her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Amanda Riddick (Pastor Frazier Godfrey Sr.), of Suffolk, Janet Greene (Maurice Greene), of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Katrinia Riddick, of Suffolk; three sons, Evangelist Willie Lee Riddick Jr. (Hope), of Ahoskie, N.C., Minister Quinton Riddick (Marion), of Suffolk, James Riddick Sr., of Suffolk; one adopted son, Frank Wood, of Suffolk; three brothers, James Square, of Colerain, N.C., Ernest Square (Evelyn), of Suffolk, and Calvin Earl (Christi), of Merrifield; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friends, Gloria Woodley, Mary Goodman and John Holly; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries, 307 County St. She will be laid to rest in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
