After battling a long-term illness, Maritza LaShion Jones (Adams) “Fruit” passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2016. She was born Jan. 24, 1972, in Suffolk to Elder George W. Adams Jr. and Connell J. Adams.

Maritza was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her two uncles, Alfred Ronald Joe and Roy Lee Adams. She is survived by her son, Christian Jones, of Suffolk; her sister, Chasity Adams, of Portsmouth; her nieces, Kierra and Shania Adams; her dogphew Bentley; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, extended family and friends.

Maritza will be remembered for her contagious smile, inspirations to others, all of the delicious home-cooked meals and her love of the Lord. She was treasured by many and will be truly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at Faith Temple Apostolic Church, 476 Wellons St., Suffolk, VA 23434. Interment will be at Nansemond-Suffolk Garden Cemetery following the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Poole’s Funeral Home, Smithfield.
