Eight Lakeland High School field hockey players earned conference honors this year.

The Lady Cavs’ season came to an end last Wednesday after a Conference 27 tournament loss to York High School. As a result, the Lady Cavs finished third in their conference, but that didn’t keep them from having their team recognized for their hard work.

Sydney Beale and Kendall Lewis were named to the first team. Allison Thompson, Maddy Carr, Alex Kinsey, Haley Beale, Kaylene Thomas and Deleah Scott were named to the second team. Ashton Moore was an honorable mention.

Coach Cortney Parker is proud of her team being honored for their hard work. “This is a great feeling,” Parker said of her team’s conference honors. “To finish third in our conference and still get that many players recognized says so much about the type of players we have at Lakeland. They all work very hard throughout the year, and it is good to see their hard work being recognized.”

Beale and Lewis, the two first team all-conference nominees, are both very grateful to be selected to the team.

“I think getting all-conference is something to be proud of,” Beale said. “I’m proud of my teammates and that we are being rewarded for our hard work. I was surprised when I was told I made the first team, but I’m happy for myself and my team.”

“I’m glad my hard work paid off, and for my teammates, I’m proud of all of them and their accomplishments,” Lewis said.

Lakeland finished the season with a 9-8 record.
