Vote for someone — just vote

To the editor:
I was saddened to read Res Spears’ recent column about voting in the elections for 2016 (“Pick your poison — or don’t,” Oct. 30).
Granted, the two major candidates this year may be the worst that have ever been put forth to the voters. But this is not enough reason to fail in your responsibility as a citizen of this country.
If you or others want to protest, there are two other candidates running in this election. Mr. Johnson and Ms. Stein are minor candidates, but they do give the voters the opportunity to voice their dissatisfaction at the Clinton-Trump debacle.
Just suppose for the sake of the argument that everyone decided not to vote for a presidential candidate, as you have suggested. Then where would we be?
