Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s field hockey season ended Tuesday in a 5-0 defeat against Cape Henry. Despite the loss, the Lady Saints were able to have two representatives on the all-conference teams.

The team’s lone senior, Paige Christiansen, was named first team all-conference, while Sam Williams was named to the second team.

“I was very excited when I heard I received the honor,” Christiansen said. “It’s a great feeling when you have your efforts recognized by the conference.”

“Making second-team all-conference is a huge accomplishment for me,” Lady Saints Sam Williams said. “There are so many talented players in the TCIS, so I knew the conference teams would be very selective. I was honestly shocked when I heard I made it.”

For Christiansen, this is her second year in a row making the first team all-conference. Lady Saints coach Ashley Skinner is excited for both players.

“I am very proud of Paige and Sam for all their hard work this season,” Skinner said. “They both have incredible work ethics and lead by example on the field.”

Both players credited their team for allowing them even to be considered. They both are grateful to represent the NSA program.

“I worked really hard in the offseason, and I’m so happy it paid off,” Williams said of her second-team accomplishment. “I am very thankful to have such a dedicated coach. She is someone I truly look up to, and her continuous support and my teammates are what led me to the award. I’m glad Paige and I are able to represent NSA field hockey.”

“I’m proud of her and her accomplishments,” Christiansen said of her teammate. “She is so dedicated. We all try to do the best we can to help our team, and it’s an honor to be noticed.”
