Festive website debuts app

In its 10th anniversary year, a website that consolidates local holiday events now comes in the form of an app.
“Based upon research, when people see information like that they can consume quickly, they’ll download the app,” said Tom Powell of The Addison Group, which created the website and app. “You see something you think you might be intrigued with, you download it.”
ChristmasInSuffolk.com also is “responsive” this year, meaning that the website will fit the size of the user’s screen, no matter what device they are using.
“Over 75 percent of people looking for stuff online are using a smartphone,” Powell said.
He said he got the idea to create ChristmasInSuffolk.com 10 years ago, thinking about how cool it would be to have all holiday-related events in one place so people can find events to attend with their family and friends more easily.
“It’s hard to pack up everybody and go find something,” Powell said.
The site and app feature a list of community and worship events and allow organizations and churches to submit those events for free. In addition, there is a section for gift ideas from local business partners and a section for charities to list their opportunities for giving during the season.
The app can be found on iTunes and GooglePlay app stores.
