The Saints will not be making a trip to the playoffs this year, but that didn’t stop them from competing hard in their last game of the season. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy went on the road to Hampton Roads Academy on Friday, winning 51-22 and finishing the regular season with a 4-6 record.

“We had a little bit of a slow start, but offensively we performed pretty well,” Saints coach Mike Biehl said. “Those guys over there played hard. They jumped on every opportunity they could.”

The Saints were led by Robby Tew, who threw for 224 yards and five touchdowns.

“Robby had his best game of the season,” Biehl said. “He was consistent from start to finish and just played really well.”

“This win was absolutely awesome,” Tew said of his team’s victory. “It was a very emotional night for our seniors and a good way to send them out.”

Shuan Faulk added 164 rushing yards, which put him over 1,000 yards for the year. Ehron Knight was the leading recipient of Tew’s touchdown passes, with 118 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Keshaun Moore, Jack Burns, and Erek Smith all added touchdowns for the Saints as well.

The Saints can go into the offseason on a positive note.

“There was a point in the game where we were able to play a lot of young guys,” Biehl said.

“The future is bright. For us to end the season on a positive note allows us to be excited about putting more work in in the offseason. That was a building game for us.”
