Edgar Ray Savage

Edgar Ray Savage, 71, died Nov. 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Margaret B. and Edgar P. Savage.
Edgar Ray currently resided in Edenton, N.C., where he worked for Kellogg Supply for 20 years. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1967 and then returned to Suffolk to farm for 25 years. During that time, he served on Suffolk City Council representing the Chuckatuck Borough from 1978 to 1986. He is a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon.
He is survived by his son, Carl Savage and wife, Karen, of Suffolk; daughters, Sherri Savage-Eastburn and husband, Tim, of Gainesville, Fla., and Jennifer Marie Savage, of Grandy, N.C.; grandchildren, Joshua and Andrea Savage and Ian and Hunter Savage-Eastburn; and sister, Dirran Sarver.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Bethlehem Christian Church, 1549 Holland Road, Suffolk, by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W.
