In observance of Thanksgiving, City of Suffolk offices will close at noon, on Nov. 23 and remain closed Nov. 24-25.

Normal operations will resume at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 28.

The following city facilities and services will observe the following schedule:

• The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will be closed Thursday and Friday and reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday
• All Suffolk City Libraries close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed through Nov. 26. All branches will reopen at their normal time on Nov. 28.
• The Suffolk Art Gallery will close at noon Wednesday and remain closed Thursday through Saturday.
• The King’s Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Oakland, Booker T. Washington and Mack Benn Jr. Suffolk Parks & Recreation Joint Use Facilities will close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed Thursday and Friday.
• The East Suffolk Recreation Center and the Whaleyville Community Center will close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed Thursday through Saturday.
• Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open during the holiday; however, no park attendant will be on duty Thursday or Friday.
• The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal will close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed through Friday. The airport will remain open to aviation traffic.
• Trash and recycling scheduled for pickup on Thursday will be collected on Friday. Trash and recycling scheduled for pickup on Friday will be collected on Saturday. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds residents that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District will have their collection day run on the regular schedule on Friday. • Suffolk Transit will not be in operation on Thursday. It will run as scheduled Wednesday and Friday.
• The Southeastern Public Safety Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk will be closed Thursday. It will open from 7 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. The Regional Landfill will be closed on Thursday and Saturday but will be open Friday from 7 a.m. to noon.
