Petty Officer 2nd Class Anthony Pacitto stands in front of landing craft air cushion hovercraft in the well deck of USS Carter Hall at sea on Monday.
Pacitto is a Suffolk native and LCAC loadmaster with Detachment D, Assault Craft Unit 4. LCACs act as vital transport vehicles in ship-to-shore operations, capable of carrying up to 60 tons of cargo, inflating a large skirt beneath them to move fluidly over water and beaches.
Pacitto is participating in Amphibious Ready Group Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise, a three-week training evolution intended to build upon previous relationships, thereby enhancing Navy and Marine Corps interoperability and amphibious warfare capabilities to tackle a wide range of operations.
During the exercise, sailors and marines work together to conduct flight operations, noncombatant evacuation exercises, simulated raids and visit, board, search and seizure drills.
