The Morgan Memorial Library building will close on Saturday for scheduled improvements and remain closed through Dec. 26 in combination with the holiday weekend, according to a city press release.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink said the interior walls of the library will be prepared and repainted. This hasn’t been done since 1986, when the building was renovated for use as a library, she stated.

During this closure, the Library2Go vehicle will be on site to provide library services during regular library operating hours. In addition to providing regular library services, including print and digital items, access to the internet will be available via tablets and other devices.

The Morgan Memorial Library is located at 443 W. Washington St.

The improvements will take place through Dec. 22. The library then will be closed Dec. 23-26 for Christmas.

Klink said the city’s capital improvements plan currently has the last phase of funding for a new downtown library project set for Fiscal Year 2021.
