Suffolk churches should step up

To the editor:

How sad it is when a story in your hometown newspaper states that the Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk is having a hard time getting churches to help homeless people have some place to come in from the cold during these very cold days.

This is a perfect example of what church has become. It’s all a business now, and it’s about how much money can be collected.

We would do just as well to stay home and watch the other crooks on television and keep our money in our pockets.

Who wants to go to a church that won’t open the door to someone in need?

I thought church was supposed to be all about helping those who can’t help themselves. Apparently that’s not the case any more.
