Chowan University holds honors college award night

Five Honors College members and one faculty member received individual awards during the annual Honors College Student Association Awards Dinner held at John’s Seafood on Nov. 20.
Among them was Calvin Bowe, of Suffolk, a senior criminal justice major. He received the Veritas Lux Mea Award, which recognizes exceptional contribution to the success of the Honors College Student Association.
Timothy Hayes, of Suffolk, an assistant professor of English, was the recipient of the Faculty Award, recognizes a faculty member for exceptional dedication to Honors College members through teaching, advising and mentoring.
The Outstanding Honors College Awards were presented to members of each class in recognition of academic achievement, service to the university, and contribution to the Honors College Program and Honors College Student Association.

The 2016-2017 Honors College Student Association Executive Committee members were presented with certificates of appreciation for their devoted service and faithful leadership. They included Bowe, the public relations officer.
Eighteen Honors College seniors were recognized during the awards dinner. Each was presented with a keychain with Chowan University and the Honors College Student Association engraved on it. The included Bowe and Christopher Rodgers, also of Suffolk, who is an exercise science major.
