Josephine S. Daughtry, of Newport News, was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Cypress Chapel. She passed peacefully into her father’s arm in the early morning of Dec. 27, 2016. “Pig” was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Rosa Stevenson. She was predeceased by her brothers, James, Lloyd Jr. and Charlie Stevenson; sisters, Dorothy Freeman and Alice Skeeter.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Isaiah Daughtry; her children, Tonga Horne (Lester), Paula Collins, Marilyn Pittman (Arrington), Yvonne Goodman, Shantena Mardini (Charles) and Margie Greenhow; one son, Tony Wheeler; one sister, Rosa Smith; two brothers, John Stevenson (Annie) and Lewis Stevenson (Mary); 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Kawan Young.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Mt. Ararat United Church of Christ. Pastor Robert Allen Jr. will deliver the eulogy.
