Old Myrtle to close for construction

Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will temporarily close Old Myrtle Road in Isle of Wight County beginning on Tuesday.
The closure will last up to 90 days so that crews can demolish the old Carrsville Bridge and install pier foundations and girders for the new bridge.
Motorists should follow the signed detour. Emergency vehicles will always be able to access the roadway, but local traffic should not attempt to drive through the work zone, VDOT officials stated in a press release.
The Carrsville bridge replacement project has been under way since March and is scheduled for completion in November 2017. The project will replace the existing bridge over the CSX Railroad on Route 58 and require installation of stormwater facilities.
All construction work is dependent upon weather conditions. During the project, Carrsville Highway will be closed and a signed detour will be in place.
