Evelyn Cutha Blount, 102, of Smith Street, transitioned Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her residence. She was a native of Winton, N.C., and the daughter of the late T.A. and Eulala H. Beverly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Blount; one daughter, Wilhelmina B. Robinson; one son, Arthur Wesley Blount Jr.; one sister, Bettie Sephus; three brothers, Lenwood Beverly, Albert Thomas Beverly and Oscar Depriest Beverly.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sentara Obici and Portsmouth Naval hospitals. She was a member of East End Baptist Church, where she attended the Tuesday Bible Study Group. Ms. Blount was one of the founding members of the LaMercetts LPN Club.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Maurice B. Sneed, of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; Galen Blount, of Washington, D.C., Delma Robinson III, of Hampton, Wesley G. Blount, of New York, N.Y., and Elena Marie Levenson, of Jerusalem, Israel; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at East End Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Wayne Faison. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
