Delegate Matthew James (D-Portsmouth) has been named vice chairman of the Hampton Roads Caucus. James’ district includes a portion of Suffolk.
Delegate Bill DeSteph (R-Virginia Beach) is the chairman of the group.
The Hampton Roads Caucus comprises legislators from both the House of Delegates and Senate from all localities in Hampton Roads. The caucus meets weekly while the General Assembly is in session and invites members of the community to share information pertinent to the region.
“The Hampton Roads region plays a critical role in the economic vitality of the commonwealth of Virginia,” James said. “As vice chair, I am excited by the opportunity to collectively work with my fellow legislators and members of the community to enhance the prosperity of the region, as well as our Commonwealth.”
James is serving his third term in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing parts of the cities of Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk and Chesapeake.
